(The ancient Mesopotamian Great Ziggurat of Ur)
This is the ancient Mesopotamian (great) Ziggurat of Ur, located in modern day Iraq. It is over 4000 years old. It was actually a temple built by King Nammu of Sumeria, in dedication to the moon-god Nanna.
The temple dominates the ruins of Ur. It was built as a series of stepped platforms with the house of the god being on the top.
The tower of Babel was most probably a temple tower of this kind.
The ancient Sumerian city of Ur was the home-city of Abraham.
Ur is also located very close to where the Jaredites of the Book of Mormon originate.
